West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin Endorses Mayor Glenn Elliott for the May Democratic Primary Nomination for the U.S. Senate

Senator Joe Manchin released a video endorsing Mayor Glenn Elliott for the May Democratic Primary nomination for the U.S. Senate seat in West Virginia on Wednesday, April 17th. Glenn Elliott, a two-term Mayor of Wheeling, West Virginia, announced his candidacy in January after Manchin announced he did not intend to seek reelection.
In the video message, Senator Manchin expresses his full support for Mayor Elliott’s candidacy in the May Democratic Senate primary, highlighting Elliott’s successes as Mayor of Wheeling, and commitment to the people of West Virginia.
Senator Manchin emphasized the importance of the candidate’s character in his endorsement for the primary, stating, “The character of the candidate we choose in the Democratic primary is crucial for achieving the results West Virginians need in Washington. Character is one of the most important factors for our state’s success.”
Mayor Glenn Elliott’s decision to run for the U.S. Senate came after careful consideration and consultation with Senator Manchin and other political leaders in the state. After Senator Manchin announced he would not seek reelection, Mayor Elliott engaged in discussions with various stakeholders and was ultimately encouraged to pursue the nomination.
