WEIRTON STEEL RALLY
I was proud to join Cantrell for WV, Cody Cumpston House of Delegates District 6 2024, and Devon Tennant for WV House of Delegates standing in solidarity with the United Steelworkers at a rally in Hancock County this morning. The purpose was to protest the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) decision that has led Cleveland-Cliffs to announce the April closure of its tin mill steel facility in Weirton and the impending loss of its 900 jobs. The ITC decision last month concluded—erroneously, in my opinion—that the import of tin mill products from China, Canada, and Germany does not sufficiently harm the domestic steel industry. This decision will not only have a devastating impact on the Northern Panhandle of West Virginia, but it will also undermine American national security by further reducing our ability to produce steel and tin domestically.
